Hi there folks..... we are pretty new to the forum, having only picked up our Galaxy about a week ago.....

In the mornings, when I switch the main heater on, there appears to be a significant lack of heat coming through at your feet...??? even with it turned up to max, the Gal is barely heating up inside..... if i switch airflow to the windscreen it seems fine, but practicaly nothing coming through underneath...??

I have check the water levels....thinking it might be a water leak, but they are up at the max in the expansion tank..... and no signs of any leaks ???

...are there any known problems with the heating/selector mechanism that would cause this...?

Thanks

Paul

Hi their, If you can state the engine and year that might help us a bit.

Things to check:-

When water temp on dash is on half, put your heater controls to the RED(hot) and change the direction to the windscreen, feel if its hot? then try the face vents, then change to the feet vents and again check if hot. If all are cold/ slight warm then you could have a blockaged to the heater matrix behind the dash.

Check the water pipes from the rad they should be very hot, you will have some pipes round back or engine going to the bulkhead which feeds water matrix, check them if they are very hot. if one is hot and one isnt then you defo have a blockaged their.

Try flush system and see if that helps.

you say you are getting a decent level of heat output to the screen but not to your feet? are you getting a decent flow of air at both points? if so then you must be getting the same heat output? as both exits have the same heat source! once the heat level is set at the controls it should blow from any of the vents you choose at virtually the same temp! check that you have the same heat output and rate of airflow at both vents? if you have none or low heat output as yours is a TDI first point of call would be to check if the aux heater is firing up?

hi i'm a new member to this fine club and had a problem like yours with mine it was a jammed thermostat i changed this and still it was only luke warm then set the airflow switch to outside air instead of recirculating the airflow and i had instant heat from above and below dash when engine at normal temp. good luck with yours

I remember you joining here paul a few weeks ago. You bought your gal from a garage so i would suggest that if it is a big problem take it back armed with what could be the problem as you should have some form of warranty even if it is a month. (i hoping this would be covered under it)
